Carpet mites more commonly referred to as dust mites or straw itch mites are tiny microscopic bugs that dwell within your carpet clothing bedding and anywhere else they find refuge.

Carpet mites are small they are of a millimeter so really small actually. Sometimes white mites can be difficult to see due to their small size neutral color and hiding abilities. If you notice bed bug like red spots and discover that you have carpet beetles but not bed bugs then they may be the cause. These are visible as tiny white bugs often described as looking like grains of salt or sugar.

Spider mites and white flies are two common types of white mites that can be found indoors and outdoors in most communities. Mite bites are often hard to identify. You will find them on your furniture carpets curtains bed linen and all other house furnishings. Also knowing you have a bug problem can cause you to feel like there are things on you even when there aren t.

These creatures are actually not insects. Dust mites don t bite humans but their widespread presence in most homes can lead to uncomfortable allergy symptoms including skin rashes. They can cause infestations in your home or even your car. Their larvae are grublike and covered.

While carpet beetles don t bite or feed on humans their larvae can irritate the skin. It s important to remove carpet mites as soon as you notice them. They are arachnids with eight legs which are too small to see with the naked eye. And white or be solid black depending on the species.

Among outdoor mites the only type that frequently bites people is the chigger. That being said they are very distinctive creatures you can notice they will live anywhere and they will end up in your carpets stuffed animals furniture and so on. Unfortunately an infestation of white mites can damage outdoor plants and become a nuisance indoors. Not knowing what s biting you can be frustrating and a little unnerving.

You might not feel the bite until after it happens or notice the mite when it bites.
